The Whispers of God
I have known many hurting women in my lifetime. They have hurt for various reasons. Marriage breakup, wayward child, bad boyfriend, past wounding, family wounding, etc. You get the idea. Living in a place of pain is a hard place and even harder when it continues and continues and you can’t see the end.
Many women forget that in that place your behavior must still line up with God and His word. How does one do that when you feel so much pain and your mind is racked with one tormenting thought after the other. Holy Spirit told me when I was in so much pain and couldn’t feel anything but the pain,
He said, “I want you to begin to be still and listen for My whisper to your soul. “
Heck, I wanted God to shout to my soul. Be still. Whisper. I may miss that. What was that about? All I could do was be still. I lay in depression still as can be but I didn’t hear Him. All I heard was the enemy taunting me. God didn’t mean be still in my flesh (but he means that too) He meant be still in my soul. I needed to be still in my mind, will, emotions, my thoughts.
There is a place in the presence of God where He reveals to you things you have never seen or heard before. Things He will reveal to you about the very situation your facing. Treasures in His presence that are priceless and hold immense value to you alone.
Jesus wants us to know Him deeper and deeper than ever. The Holy Spirit comes to reveal Christ to you. But, you must spend time in His presence and wait for His whisper.
The time of trial is the time to hide in God. I know that is not the answer you were probably looking for. We have our trial and we want out. But, God has another idea in mind. The place of waiting with Him is the place of strength. We are drained of our spiritual strength in a trial if we do not get filled up with what He has for us. But we only get what He has in the secret place of waiting for His whisper. Waiting in surrender. Waiting in patience. Waiting in expectation.
Most of us know that our relationship with God is our everything but do we do everything for that relationship?
I have had many women say to me “I don’t know what to do in this situation.” Yes. We don’t at first. We are filled with so many other thoughts and feelings that are driving us to a flesh place. We forget to wait and listen for His voice, His wooing, His presence.
It will cost you to be still. It will cost you to lay down your inner motion and movement of the mind and the heart. You have to train yourself to be that quiet inside and not go to the place of imagination and assumption (something I will talk about later in this book). This will take more than one or two attempts in your prayer closet. It may take a long season of waiting and being still.
When the stillness comes it will be more real than you are. God desires you to have total fellowship with Him and learn at his feet in stillness and quiet. He wants to speak answers to you about your situation. He wants to speak mysteries to you about your life, your future, your destiny.
Let Him draw you into this place. You really can’t even go after Him until He draws you. So, let His presence draw you to the still deep place of fellowship and intimacy.
