Embracing your Night Season
The night. Have you ever wondered what definition of “night” means. I mean we see night time and we call it night but what does it mean?
According to Webster’s Dictionary it means: an evening set aside for a particular purpose, a period of dreary inactivity or affliction, time from dusk to dawn when no sunlight is visible.
In our lives we have periods of what I call the night season. This is a time of great trial or pain or affliction. A time that you feel totally helpless, maybe even hopeless. If you have ever been in a night season in your life you know that it is a very hard place to be in but it is also a great place to be if you embrace it.
But first you must understand what you can learn from it and then embrace to move on in your life.
Holy Spirit said to me….
In a night season you are forced to make the decision at the fork in the road to move forward or stay stuck.
When you compare the natural darkness to the spiritual night season in your life, you learn quite a bit. One thing you learn is to walk by faith and trust.
In a dark dark room you can see nothing. You must walk carefully and on purpose to find the door or switch on the wall. Just like in your spiritual night, you learn to hear that still voice that directs you to go this way or that and you have to trust only that sound to get you to the next place in your life. You take each step in your dark room listening for His voice by faith to get to the light.
Our conversation on this subject continued and He said….
“You learn to walk by what you cannot see—faith. You may not know the next step or thing to do or where that next place is so faith takes over.”
People are more naturally intimate at night, even sexually. Just as in your night season. You really should become more intimate with God in your dark place or night season. You learn to give all of yourself to God in the hard place of your life. When there is nothing else to hold on to, nothing else in the natural you can lean on to fix your problem, you learn to trust the one you are with more in your dark place. You have to or you wont make it.
Just as a married couple may be more intimate at night so it is with you and God. Sometimes you just stay up at night to talk to Him or read with Him or pray with Him through the night.
One night He said to me….
“Stay up with Me all night and let me show you My heart and mysteries. Learn My voice.”
You should also learn to hear the voice of God more clearly in your night season. More than any other time in a day it is quieter in the night. Just as in your night season you may not think you hear God. He seems further away than ever. The dark seems darker and you have no direction. But, He is there. He is speaking.
Let the quiet of the night speak of Him and His presence in the still small voice.
Embrace the night season. Embrace the hard place. Take it and let God be big in you and listen for Him.
