Are You Awakened Yet?
“But all things become visible when they are exposed by the light, for everything that becomes visible is light. For this reason it says, Awake, sleeper, And arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you. – Ephesians 5:13-14
Our lives are divided by the before and after of our choices. You and I were chosen for a purpose, we are healed, delivered and live everyday for a purpose. That purpose is not your own. We are called for a purpose and we are called to a purpose and that purpose always involves other people.
I am unique and valuable and so are you.
I have been doing a small group study on a book called Undaunted, by Christine Caine. If you have never read it you need to and you need to as soon as possible. I read a lot! and I have not yet read a book that stirred me as much as this one has to the point of I NEED to do something. I need to be awakened. I didn’t realize how asleep I was until this book.
We live in a world that if you dare to be different you can make a change. Undaunted in our study means to dare to do what God calls you to do. Is that you? Are you undaunted?
There are so many wonderful life changing statements that I got out of the teaching but one that stuck with me the most was…
When God’s people sleep through injustice the darkness just gets darker.
Our lives should be making a difference in the world or the in the world we live in personally. Our life as a Christian is not a career. Careers come to an end. But it is who we are. I was so motivated in the teaching to stop ignoring the sufferings and injustices on the earth. I have asked God to awaken me to the injustices around me and to empower me to do something. Whatever that something is. It is time to wake up sleeping Christian and not live in name only.
Injustice keeps happening because we are sleep as believers and we need to allow God to wake us up.
Are we seeking our own freedom to the point we ignore the bound. Are you seeking your own comfort to only look away from those that are without and comfortless. We need to stop running from from the darkness of the world. Light is only light when it shines in the darkness. But most of us we keep being light to more light. We keep comparing whose light is the brightest and best.
Jesus chose us so that we could be a light to those in darkness and to a broken and lost world. They are not hard to find. They are everywhere and on every corner. We must not be silent about the pain and sufferings of others in this world. That world may far reaching for you and then it may be as close as your own backyard or city.
The Spirit of the Lord is on ME, because he has anointed ME to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent ME to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor. – Luke 4:18-19
Why is the spirit of the Lord on us a believers, because it is on us? It is not for you. You have it because you are to proclaim good news to the poor. you are to proclaim freedom to the prisoner and proclaim recovered sight to the blind, you are to set the oppressed free and proclaim that the Lord’s favor has come.
You can do that in so may ways you will run out of time to accomplish it. I have chosen that one way I do that is with writing. Writing books, stories, articles, teaching materials. Write, write and proclaim I will. But it goes much more deeper than that for me. I want to target injustice in the world and I want to make a difference.
How about you? To do that we must get US off our minds. Sure we have trials and we have problems but we must stop focusing so much on us and consumed with our own life and begin to see the pain of others.
We must wake up to the pain and suffering of those on the earth. Don’t separate yourself from the pain of others around you. WE can listen to sermons and teachings and be on to the next thing.
Ask God what He requires of you. If what you are doing is only producing productive activity in your life and not transforming lives what is the point.
Again, when we sleep thru injustice and are not awakened to it the darkness will only get darker.
