Disciplines of a Godly Woman Series
What a wonderful word “discipline”.
This blog starts a blog series I want to write for you about the disciplines of a godly woman. Not sure how long it will be at this point but a series nonetheless. I am finding that a lot of women are just super busy and discipline is hard to put into our schedules. Actually, it is a word that not a lot of people even like. So, I thought a little teaching time would help you all in this area.
Women we are unique to say the least. We have a lot of qualities and we give a lot to other women, our families, husbands, friends and more. But rarely do we take the time for ourselves to sharpen and develop as a woman of God. We sort of just let it happen but it rarely happens. We keep saying that illusive word “tomorrow”.
I have taught this principle in my coaching/counseling program that for every “yes” you give you are saying “no” to something more important.
Our days are full, we are over-scheduled, we are over tired, we are plain worn out with life some of us and we are wondering how to make it to next week. We have let the important things go for the necessary. That must change to be the best we can be for Him. That is the goal, right?
As a woman of God we should be seeking His heart and His will. We can’t do that over scheduled and over tired. the Bible says… “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all His righteousness and all these things will be added to you” – Matthew 6:33
We know the scripture well. We have heard it many times but do we get it. Do we do it?
I Timothy 4:7 says “.. On the other hand, discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness;”
There is that word again. Discipline.
As women of God we should be seeking to gain godliness and there is a definite way to do that. So let’s begin.
Discipline is something you add to your life. It’s a quality, trait, or characteristics you want to add to your life. It’s a change in lifestyle you want to embrace. It’s a mindset you want to change for the better that you are willing to train yourself for. Discipline is the goal that you want to me and how to meet it.
It is something you do intentionally that you must change something else to obtain it.
For the sake of this blog we are talking about godly things you want added to your life. To do that, you will have to be intentional about them.
Here are a few of the disciplines this series will contain over the next few weeks. The discipline of: generosity, stillness, love, simplicity, honesty, surrender, belief, vision, friendship, beholding Christ, repentance, study, & obedience
So get ready ladies and get your bibles out and take notes. I will post a new discipline at least once a week for you to meditate on all week. Let that discipline roll upon your life and show you what you need to adjust, take away or add to have that godly trait in your life.
Look forward to hearing from you!
