Happy 50th Birthday!!!!!!!!!!

I thought I would celebrate my birthday on my blog with 50 Things You Didn’t Know about Me. No special reason… just wanted to do something fun and possibly entertaining and post a few pictures.

Today — April 5, 2015 is my 50th Birthday. 50th is supposed to be celebrated with a  big party and or at least people celebrating you. It’s  jubilee  time. But, Wow! I can hardly believe it. I must say this is not where I thought I would be in my life today on my birthday. I really wanted my 2nd surprise party from my husband and my kids and a cruise. But, divorced and alone and not sure what my future will be is my current state subject  to change .  But its my birthday anyway and life goes on.

My mind tells me I am not 50 but my driver’s license does.  Most people don’t believe I am this old when I tell them. Well I thought it would be fun to do a short blog on 50 things about myself that you may not know or care about but since this is my  I blog and I’m 50 I can do what I want. LOL….  This is my year of jubilee. That is what 50 means so maybe this year will be my best year yet… a girl can hope. My year to shine and be who I am supposed to be and not what circumstances created around me. So here goes……..

1. My middle name is Marie and my dad named me.
2. I love creme soda, but don’t drink it very much.
3. I am really a foodie but if I could give up cooking all together I would and just eat out everyday.
4. I hate clutter but keep my dresser drawer cluttered and search for socks and unmentionables everyday. LOL.
5. I am a journal junkie and pen junkie. I love them just in case you ever wanted to get me anything.
6. I have two sons and only two sons whom I literally will kill for to protect them. No. Seriously. That means their future wives, better come correct. No seriously. Protect with my life. LOL.
7. I wanted to be homeschooled as a kid but my mom wouldn’t do it.

8. I went to college for 5 years and never got a degree. I was studying the wrong things. I know. What a waste of time.
9. I’ve been to Disney World 2x in my life and my kids have never been. Would love to go with them and have fun.
10. My favorite dessert is white cake with chocolate frosting.
11. My all time favorite movie is A Walk To Remember. I am a romantic to the bone.

12. I didn’t get married until I was 27 yrs old to my highschool love and I had a dream wedding. Will love him forever.

13. My highschool love divorced me at the age of 49.

14. I love landscaping my yard. I love dirt, flowers, and pinestraw.
15. I am spontaneous and have very few friends that are spur of the moment people.

16. When I was in middle school and highschool I was a bookworm to the core. I took all my books home from school everyday including the weekend and studied and copied the text book lessons. Math is my best subject. Grammar and English are my worst and I call myself a writer. Let’s see how this works out.
17. I have one birth sister, I have not seen since December 1990.
18. As a kid and teen, I used to love paper and pencils and writing. Go figure.
19. The farthest vacation I have ever been on is Jamaica. While there I drank 25 strawberry daiquiris – virgin of course.

20. I was born in Beaufort, South Carolina.
21. My favorite food is rice, seafood, and Italian. I could eat it everyday by rotation.
22. I just discovered a love for asparagus about 4 weeks ago.
23. My favorite color to wear is cantaloupe orange color. But I don’t have much of that color.
24. I love to decorate my home.
25. I hate to shop for clothes for myself. I detest looking thru racks of clothes and trying them on.
26. I learned to drive a stick shift in a 1985 Chevy Chevette in a snow storm. I had to drive it home from the dealership and it freakishly snowed that same day.
27. I really want to have another baby, a girl, and name her Jamilla. But almost everyone in my life thinks I am too old for that dream.  Well what do they know.

28. I sometimes will go to the 15 or less checkout line with more items than 15.
29. I hate technology of all kinds. If I could not have to have a cell phone, laptop, internet or high def TV I wouldn’t have one.
30. People think I’m shy and rude when they first meet me. I’m not. I’m just quiet. I just don’t talk much at first but when you get to know me, I talk a LOT.
31. I love very hard and passionately.
32. I suffered depression for 7yrs maybe longer I stopped counting. Now, I don’t really care what people think of me, love me or even like me.
33. I love books and I love to read but I really hate ebooks but its the way of the world and I am going to have to get published on one. But I secretly hate that publishing is going this way.  I believe in print books you can hold.

34. Most people have a dream vacation…. I don’t have one.
35. I have all of my kids’ baby teeth saved.. I know.. I know don’t judge me.
36. I looked like such a nerd in school. OMG.. this is the only picture you will ever see.
37. I think I was a cute baby and kid. I loved to pose for pictures.
38. I used to cake decorate and sell them as a business. I wanted a wedding cake shop called Elegant Cakes.
39. I will never call my husband my “ex” there is no such thing.
40. I love to stay in hotels. Wish I could go to one right now and relax.

 

41. My mom died August 1990. She never saw my wedding nor my kids.
42. I can’t sleep in a bed with any body parts hanging out the bed. Because when I was around 7-10 yrs old my grandmother told me that if you hang body parts out of the bed the boogy man will come and get them. It ruined me. Til this day I just can’t do it. Talk about the power of words.

43. I struggle secretly with being alone. I hate divorce and hate the word divorce and hate everything that comes with it including the way people treat you after divorce. Who am I? Non-divorced people will NEVER understand the stigma and the feeling of not fitting in. But they like to try to say they do.
44. What you see is what you get with me. I am as real as they come. If I like you I like you. If I don’t I don’t. If I’m your friend I am and I will keep my word to you.
45. My longest and dearest friend whom I’ve know the longest in my life is my sister/friend Gwen Evans. (she is not on Facebook to even read this lovely blog). Known her 23 yrs now.

 

46. I have never like living in Georgia its just too hot and too country and wish I could live in upper New Hampshire, New England area in a small town.
47. I loved to pose in pictures as a kid but hate it now as an adult.
48. My love language is touch and I suffer from the loss of that in my life now and it is very hard.
49. I love to lay in bed and listen to rainstorms.
50. I used to want to be an OB/GYN and love medical tv shows.
