Marriage Moment – June 1
Marriage Moment – June 1, 2016
Staying married is not mainly about staying in love. Don’t get me wrong. Love is a huge part of marriage but so is commitment. And, that commitment must be stronger than your love for your mate.
Marriage is about covenant and about the “til death do us part” and the “As long as we both shall live”. These words are sacred vows you make to each other and you really don’t get the choice of breaking them because you feel “differently” at some point in the marriage.
Marriage is a covenant promise–the same kind Jesus made with his bride when he died for her. Therefore, what makes divorce and remarriage so HORRIFIC in God’s eyes is not merely that it involves covenant-breaking to the spouse but that it involves misrepresenting Christ and His covenant. Christ will NEVER leave his wife. EVER. There may be times of painful distance and tragic backsliding on our part. But Christ keeps his covenant forever. Marriage is a display of that!!!!
That is the ultimate thing we can say about it, It puts the GLORY of Christ’s covenant keeping love on display. What are you displaying?
I know there are some of you that need encouragement. Some need it by the bucket load and some need it by the semi-truck load. Life has gotten the best of you for a while now. Some are struggling with all kinds of things. Health, husbands, weight, self esteem, fear, anger, loneliness, doubt, patience, personal growth in God and your marriage. The list can be endless. Well here is your word of encouragement that I must give to you that my friend Holy Spirit gave to me…..
The battles that you face.. some of them are bloody and messy. You are not in a clean fight. The devil plays dirty. You will get messy and bloody too, but you always win!!!! No matter what the circumstance no matter what Satan brings. You are going to have to fight him. Do you understand….. not fight in the sense of defeat him because he is already defeated but you are going to have to fight YOU. You are going to have to fight what you want, what you feel, what you desire. You. You are going to have to fight to keep your ground in Christ, your intentional life in Christ, your integrity in Christ, your mind in Christ, your life in Christ. You will have to fight to stay holy with each decision.
For some of you it looks like you lost your fight. There may be something you thought would work out a certain way and it didn’t. Don’t lose heart. Let your faith be radical and unwavering. Let it loose. Fight. In war, you are tired and you may even feel like this enemy is never going away or die. Fight! I am telling you that you can make it. You can get the strength you need from the Holy Spirit.
You can make up in your mind that Satan will not have your family, your life, your children, your anything. The Word of God says…
“Not for one moment to be frightened or intimidated in anything by your opponents and adversaries, for such constancy and fearlessness (by you) will be a clear sign and proof and seal to them (the enemy) of their impending destruction but a sure token and evidence of YOUR deliverance and salvation and that from God. ~Philippians 1:28
Think about this. Most of you women are strong and will stand and fight, but it is the consistency of the war that gets us. It is the intensity of the attack of Satan and his low level devils. It is the length of the battle and sometimes multiple enemies and no reinforcements to say “you can do this”.
Also we fail to remember that a fight is always fierce and messy. Some of you, you want to fight and still look good. Sometimes in the middle of your battle you are exposed and you look bad. It’s just part of the process. But what matters is the end. In the time of darkness and lonliness or abandonment, go to the Word. In that time of darkness in the battle is where the most power and change is happening inside of you. Go to Him, the Source, your standby, your helper.
Get in the secret place with Him and wait. For He will surely answer and come to help you and deliver you out of all your trouble. But, you must press. You must press in and be consistent. God is on your side. He calls you His friend.
You WIN!!!! If you hold your ground and be fearless you will defeat the enemy in your life. So get up put your war clothes on and fight, fight to win.
