Integrity
Integrity is a word you don’t hear very much. At least I don’t hear it a lot.
Integrity is doing what you say your going to do. It is the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles and moral uprightness.
This definition may be why we don’t hear it very much. Do you know most people are not honest nor have strong moral principles. They are swayed by any and everything that comes. They don’t even think about most of their actions.
Most people live from a place of self and only what is important to them. They don’t really live from a place of moral principle.
Moral principles are something that you walk in everyday of your life. They should be based on the word of God and His values. You should live by them in every situation in your life from the smallest to the largest.
Think about your life after you read this blog and do some constructive inner soul searching about where you need to be more honest and upright. Are there areas that you can change and adjust to meet the definition of integrity.
Do you value living your life with a high sense of integrity.
Very few people you meet will walk in this level of integrity and you may find yourself walking it alone. But that is okay. Most people do not even feel it necessary to live by a certain standard.
Most people consider themselves to be good. But most people lie everyday. Then we say “we are not perfect”. But when do we become that person of integrity that God desires.
I think integrity is being as transparent and honest as you can be. I think it is someone who every time you see them they are the same in all situations. They do not manipulate people, they don’t hide things, they are upfront with you and deal with you from the same place of honesty as someone else. They don’t treat you one way and then another when others are around. They are not pretenders. You know what to expect from them.
To walk in this level of living you will have to have made up their mind to be this kind of person.
Integrity is more than just telling the truth. It is doing what you said you would do all the time. It is keeping a promise even it if it hurts you and costs you something. It means that your word means something and can be counted on.
“Integrity is the foundation stone of eternal life.”
What is required to walk in integrity
-
First decide who is the source of your values. Is it you or God? Where will you get the values from.
-
Second, decide what is most important to you. What do you really value as important?
-
Third, think about what you need to change on that list. Are you living up to those things. What do you need to change today?
Remember, you can do this. You can make the changes you need to make. You are not alone. You can’t do this by yourself though. You will need God to help you. He is your standard.
Philippians 4:13 says….
“I can do everything God asks me to do with the help of Christ who gives me strength & power.”
Do a self evaluation. Make the changes you need to make and live the life you need to live to be pleasing to God. Live for Him and Him alone.
